How Real Estate Agents Get Found in AI Search

MYFRND Be Found by AI cover with a home, search lens, and information cards on charcoal.

Real estate agents can improve their eligibility to appear in AI search by publishing accessible, specific, credible information about their expertise and markets. Generative engine optimization, or GEO, is the practice of making that information useful to AI-generated answers. It does not guarantee that ChatGPT, Google, or another tool will recommend you.

What changed in the home-search journey?

In October 2025, Zillow announced its ChatGPT app, bringing listing discovery into a conversational interface. Buyers could explore property information, then continue on Zillow for next steps. This is a documented example of app-connected property discovery—not evidence that an agent’s blog automatically earns an AI recommendation.

That distinction matters. An AI tool may retrieve public webpages, use an app’s inventory, or generate an answer without a live search. Your marketing should address the information you can actually maintain: your website, professional profiles, listing facts, and original expertise.

Start with a source worth finding

Google’s guidance for AI search features says established SEO practices still apply; there is no special AI schema required. My recommendation for agents is to build a small, connected foundation:

Translate expertise into a useful answer

For example, a Norfolk, Virginia agent could answer: “What should I prepare before listing my Norfolk home?” Explain the sequence, identify which decisions require property-specific advice, and link to relevant local resources. Treat this as an editorial example, not a claim about a completed transaction.

A generic “best Realtor” page offers little evidence. A clear explanation of your process gives readers something they can assess and gives search systems identifiable information to retrieve.

Your first action

Choose five questions from recent client conversations, remove private details, and select one to answer thoroughly. Use the MYFRND B.R.A.I.N. prompting framework to draft, then verify every factual statement yourself.

This seven-part MYFRND AI Search Field Guide will help you turn that foundation into a repeatable practice. My role is to make AI useful for your real estate business, with clear steps and evidence you can evaluate.
